THR3E are:
Steve Woodward - vocals, guitars Pete Castle - drums, percussion Carlos Linnett - vocals, guitars Dom Rentle - bass guitar “These guys are the rock fans' favourite blues band and the blues fans' favourite rock band”. So read a 2016 review of the band’s debut album '30 Day Hop' and the guys in Thr3e could not have put it any better themselves. |
With a style firmly rooted in 60s/70s British blues but with influences ranging widely from the old blues originals to more recent US and British rock & blues, along with a smattering of Americana & Southern boogie, Thr3e do not try to fit into any 'genre'. They just write great songs about what happens in their world and play them from the heart. Twin guitars bouncing licks off each other, great harmonies and hooks big enough to catch a whale, you'll want to hear their songs again and again. Add to that an exhilarating live show full of energy and fun and you have the perfect package.
Originally formed as a trio of ex-TOBRUK guitarist / singer / songwriter Steve Woodward, bassist Rob Butterfield and drummer Pete Castle, Thr3e released their debut album “30 Day Hop” at the end of 2015. They added guitarist / singer / songwriter Carlos Linnet in 2016, doubling the band’s vocal and guitar power, with Rik King joining the line-up on bass and blues harp in 2017, replacing Rob. Due to ill health, Rik decided to leave the band in January 2022 and assist them in an administrative role - and now Thr3e are proud and honoured to be joined by the legend that is Dom Rentle on bass guitar.
The band are going from strength to strength, performing at prestigious festivals and venues around the country and gaining support both from their ever expanding fan base and other established rock & blues luminaries.
Thr3e released their second album "Hey, Mr. Bartender" to rave reviews in April 2019 and are currently writing material for their third album due for release in 2023.
As with many bands, the dreaded Lockdown brought things to a halt but 2022 has seen Thr3e back in action and re-building with club/bar dates, trips to Grimsby and a return to the 100 Club, plus festival dates at Upton Blues Festival (main stage), Daxtonbury, Dogfest and even an unplugged slot at Bedfringe Festival.
Powerhouse blues/rock songs with a hint of Southern Boogie, written by the band, full of hot riffs and performed with energy, feeling and passion. That is Thr3e.
A style firmly rooted in 60s/70s British blues but with influences ranging widely from Americana, Hard Rock and the old blues originals.
Thr3e do not try to fit in to any “genre”. They just write great songs and play them from the heart. Twin guitarists bouncing licks off each other pumped by a driving rhythm section and with tight vocal harmonies to boot.
If you like it bluesy, hard edged yet still musical, then you’ll love this!
THEY ARE BACK and 2023 onwards promises some good gigs as music comes alive again!
